Somerset Under 15's Cup Final
Chew Valley 34pts Chard 24pts
The Somerset RFU age group finals were all played at Midsomer Norton rugby Club on Sunday and the Chard team who had beaten Taunton RFC in the semi final played Chew Valley in the final.
Chard took a coach load of supporters and many others made the trip to watch the game. The lovely weather and a large crowd helped to make it a great occasion.
Both teams had a number of very talented players and the commitment and endeavour shown by all players was wonderful to see.
Chew took a very early lead with an unconverted try but Chard responded well with a well worked try from a lineout with Ollie Browning getting the touch down. George Chapple added the conversion points to put Chard into the lead.
Chew moved ahead with two more unconverted tries before Billy White got a second score for Chard again converted by Chapple to bring the scores within a point.
With the final move of the first half Chew scored their fourth try and led “0-14 at the interval.
White and Browning both scored again for Chard in the second half but these were matched by Chew who ran out winners by 34pts to 24pts.
Congratulations to all the players for playing so well and to all the coaches, parents and helpers for all the work they do to ensure that junior rugby continues to thrive at Chard. RFC
