Written by Ben Partridge.

Chards very own Wing Commanders futher cemented their place at the top of the table with a convincing win over a spirited Yeovil side.
Yeovil came to Essex close sitting at 4th in the league and within the first five minutes the boys really thought they had a game on their hands.
It was Sam Mouland playing at flyhalf who got the scoring underway with an unconverted try.
Yeovil stepped it up a gear next and created half chances but never really looked like threatening the Wing Commanders well drilled defence.
Just before the 20th minute saw winger Dave Lock run down the left wing, to then kick through to the end zone where centre Dave Tucker used his cat like reflexes to dive on the ball, Mouland converts, 12-0.
Next up was fan favourite Flying Fin Shoemark playing at fullback. He danced his way through the yeovil 22 and outpaced everyone to score his 8th try of the season.
From the resulting restart the Wing Commanders fought tirelessly to win the ball back and some good tackling from the forwards meant that Dave Lock could leave his left wind to dot down in the corner of the right wing to make the score 22-0.
27-0 soon follwed when centre Billy Vernon used his snake like hips to weave his way through the now disheartened Yeovil back line and they were starting to drop their heads. Mouland converts.
On the stroke of halftime flanker Ash Wilson bursts through from shortrange after a well worked team try. The ball moved right to left and back again across the pitch more than once as the team advanced forward. Every player touched the ball in the build up to this try with strong carrying coming from Steve Long and Connor Moon. Mouland converts. 36-0 halftime.

With the wind at their backs the Wing Commanders started the second half just as they had finished the first. Fullback Fin Shoemark dazzled the defence with his allusive running leaving members of the crowd claiming his legs were covered in soap. He dotted down with his 9th of the season. Mouland converted 43-0, 42mins played.
A quick brace from centre Billy Vernon who carved up the Yeovil backs bought his tally to 3 for the day.
Next was blindside flanker Ash Wilson for his second, after some really good forward pressure from the Lewis brothers up the middle of the park and openside flanker Ross Faniyanka running the ball wide Ash dots down with another conversion from Sam Mouland. 62-0.
To finish off a well rounded performance from the mercurial Sam Mouland, he added a futher 2 converted tries to make his total for the day 31points scoring a hattrick of tries and converting 8.
Man of the match was Dave Lock for his precise work on both wings, setting up tries and scoring one for himself.
Even when missing key players due to injury or availability the Wing Commanders still have great strength in depth and can pull the win out the bag, which is great testement to the players and coaching staff.

Next up the Wing Commanders are away at Somerton for their toughest test yet. 3/12/21 1430 kick off.
